Eat Junk, Become Junk: You Are What You Eat
-
It’s summer time, which means it’s that time of the year to hit the beach and flaunt the hard earned body you’ve been sculpting all winter long. As an active person and a frequent user of the Rutgers University Athletics Center, I’ve seen my share of patrons shuffling in and out of the gym in hopes of attaining six-pack abs or looking to drop a few pounds just in time for their next beach visit. However, what they don’t realize is how many times they’re in the gym or how long they spend in the gym aren’t the only factors in achieving the fitness goals they hope to achieve.
As any nutritionist will tell you, losing weight or gaining muscle depends on what you eat. I’ve seen firsthand the frustration people experience when they go to the gym for a month hoping to see instant results, and end up with disappointment. They spend an hour and a half a day, three times a week without results because they don’t realize that part of reaching your physical goal is what you do when you leave the gym.
Achieving the best results comes down to your nutrition and what you choose to eat. Rather than making a drastic change to your diet; first start off with subtle changes like the changes suggested below:
1. Say Goodbye to Fast Food.
This is probably the biggest problem people face when it comes to weight loss. The addiction to fast food and its easy accessibility makes it a major factor against weight loss. The challenge is to minimize or completely cut off fast food in your diet.
2. Substitute Water for Soda
Here’s another problem that can hinder your chances of seeing visible results. Despite its bad reputation, your body needs sugar for energy. However, excess sugar isn’t good for your body and can cause a number of diseases, including diabetes, hyper- and hypoglycemia. Substituting water for all the highly carbonated, high sugar drinks we consume can really make a difference in achieving your goals.

I agree 100%. Loosing weight is not as hard as people think it is.
