Jay-Z Determined To Not Repeat His Father’s Mistakes

  • Jay-Z’s abandonment issues (his father left his family when Jay was 11-years-old) has the hip-hop superstar reflecting on his own impending fatherhood. He told PEOPLE at GQ‘s Men of the Year party the other night:

    “It makes me a little paranoid because no matter what, I don’t think any person, or any male, goes into a relationship thinking that they’re going to leave or wouldn’t be there. I think the circumstances a lot of times dictates things, right?”

    Despite his paranoia, Jay is confident he won’t go down the same path as his dad. He said:

    “I’m just a different kind of guy. I come from a real place where you had to be a highly principled person. So, I’m pretty confident that I’ll figure it out.”
