Keeping Up With Nick Cannon
-

Don’t sleep on Nick Cannon. At just 31-years-old, the entrepreneur, actor, comedian, DJ, rapper, radio and television host has a resume that could cover several lifetimes. With multiple titles encompassing his ever-growing roster of business and entertainment endeavors, Cannon proves why he lives up to the name “Mr. Showbiz,”- the title of his stand-up comedy dvd released last month. In addition to being the husband of superstar Mariah Carey and a new father of six-month-old twins, Cannon is the CEO of Ncredible Entertainment, a multi-media company which includes an expanding roster of music talent.
Recently the label introduced the world to 4Count, a modern day boy band in the vein of Backstreet Boys, N’Sync and 98 Degrees. Their debut single “Good To Be Bad” has been well received and the accompanying video directed by Cannon himself displays his knack for tapping into the pulse of youth culture.
Monster, the same company behind Beats by Dre, has partnered with Nick to offer a line of Ncredible-branded headphones that will be youth targeted and go on sale in January 2012. As Chairman of TeenNick, Cannon created the Halo Awards that recognizes teens making a difference in their communities. The awards show has been a ratings winner for Nickelodeon.
As with every celebrity, there is always controversy. From small issues to large matters, Nick Cannon has been one to have had his share of fingers pointed at him. Just this week, Nick came under fire from PETA for pretending to lose his radio co-host’s dog, when he tied 50 balloons to a stuffed animal and sent it flying into the air. An avid tweeter, Cannon took to the social network to clear his name with his nearly 3 million followers. Last night he tweeted about run-ins with the police: “Now in LA I get pulled over like once a week. Honestly, I think it’s because I’m a Black man in a nice car. #KnowyourplaceBOY (sic).”
