Next On Top: Jonnel Green, CEO And Founder Of Extreme Dreamers, Inc.
-

Extreme Dreamers, Inc. was founded by Jonnel “Young Harlem” Green during the fall of 2010 with the purpose of empowering others through fashion, music, literature and film. The Harlem, NY native felt that the multi-media industry lacked an outlet that empowered and inspired everyday people. Extreme Dreamers, Inc. is a digital magazine that allows you to follow the steps of people from diverse walks of life, faith and ages, who have sought to follow their dreams while inspiring others. CherryOnTop recently talked to Jonnel about the organization and his hopes for our youth. Check it out:
What is ‘Extreme Dreamers’ and what is the goal of this organization?
JG: ExtremeDreamers.com is a Digital Magazine/Multimedia brand that empowers you through music, fashion, literature and film. This was started officially on May 18, 2011. The goal of this magazine is to empower the reader to dream and to get a view of a person’s life who is living out their dreams. We have writers who all have their own column in which they take the reader on a journey through their life and also discuss different issues that are affecting not just our community, but the world we live in.
When did you start ‘Extreme Dreamers’, and what has the organization accomplished thus far?
JG: The goal was to provide the media industry with something different. As you see, there aren’t many outlets that empower people to do better and to live out their dreams. In 7 months, we have had great success with the launch of the “l Am An Extreme Dreamer” t-shirts, which are currently sold out. We also had an event Called “No Walls” that was geared towards tearing down the negative walls that’s affecting many communities, such as violence and sexually transmitted diseases. This event was held at Marcus Garvey Park on September 17, and was in conjunction with First Corinthian Baptist Church located In Harlem. We also have been featured in various magazines.
What was the reason behind creating this organization? Was there a specific incident that occurred that led you to form this organization?
JG: I created this to help change peoples mind sets and also empower the world with something new and different.
Why do you think there is a need for organizations such as this for our youth in America?
JG: There is a big need due to the fact that many kids aren’t encouraged to attack their dreams and aren’t empowered to be their best. Most youth are taught the basics in life – go to school and say no to drugs. Rarely do you see adults encouraging kids and other adults to pursue their purpose. What’s so great about www.extremedreamers.com is that we are all extreme dreamers, no matter how we look, our age or nationality. I also have a nonprofit called YOUNG HARLEM INC that’s mainly focused on changing the stereotype of calling kids in the community “at risk” when they are really “at hope”. Most kids don’t have hope – that is the problem with the youth of today.
What are some of the community changes that your organization wishes to see?
JG: We are just trying not just change today’s community but change people’s mentality. Everybody has goals; we just want people to never give up on them and always “Dream To The Extreme”. I just recently spoke at a church in New Jersey encouraging their youth to never give up on what God has put in their hearts.
Where can people go to find out more information about your organization?
JG: People can find out more about Extreme Dreamers by going online to ExtremeDreamers.com and checking out the awesome writers. I just want to thank you for acknowledging our a vision. 2012 is a big year for us as we take it to another level with events and the launch of the online store. Shout out to Cherry Martinez, and don’t forget to “Dream to the Extreme”.
