Aretha Franklin Calls Off Her Wedding

Well that was fast! After announcement their engagement a mere few weeks ago, Aretha Franklin and her longtime companion, William ‘Willie’ Wilkerson, have announced that they’re calling off their wedding. According to a statement released yesterday, Aretha said:

“Regretfully, To Our Friends and Supporters: Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly. There will be no wedding at this time.

We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends.”

This has to be the shortest engagement we’ve ever seen, but we guess someone as legendary as Aretha is entitled to change her mind.
