CherryOnTop's Twitter 'Hip-Pop' Roundtable

  • From time to time, we ask our friends at various media outlets what they think about hot topics of the entertainment industry. These are people who are ‘OnTop’ of their game, and you should be too. Here’s what they had to say:

Roundtable Question: Common vs. Drake. Who ya got?

    Don Bleek – YoDonBleekRaps.com

“Common is a more lyrical emcee than Drake but today’s Hip-Hop music isn’t about being lyrical. I will have to side with Drake just for the fact that he’s for this generation. He has more followers on Twitter, sold more albums and went on more tours than Common in the last few years. The new generation is all for Drake. Only true Hip-Hop fans would side with Common.”

    Kathy Iandoli – HipHopDX.com

As a hip-hop ambassador, my default answer is Common. However, I really mean neither. This reminds me of high school when the former captain of the football team graduated and went on to college football only to come back to the first pep rally of the next season to heckle the new HS captain. Like who the eff cares if you both get to play football?

Dan Spritz – COT Entertainment Editor

My introduction to Drake was on Degrassi and my most lasting memory of Common is from Wanted. I’m taking a guy with a gun over Wheelchair Jimmy every time.
