Cherry’s Celebrity Beauty Files: Jennifer Williams
-

Although Jennifer Williams is largely known as one of the cast members of VH1′s hit reality series Basketball Wives, there is much more to this South Orange, New Jersey native. Along with recently launching a new cosmetics line (Lucid), Jennifer is also working on a handbook for women expected to be released next year, among other ventures. As she prepares for the fourth season premiere of Basketball Wives, CherryOnTop caught up with Jennifer to discuss her beauty regimen, the Lucid line and what we can expect in the new season of the show. Check it out below:
What is your definition of beauty?
JW: Someone that is really well rounded. I think people automatically think that beauty has a lot to do with the outside, and I disagree. It’s mostly about what you project out, so having a great spirt and having a great inside will determine your beauty.
At what age did you first discover makeup?
JW: I don’t know exactly what age I really got into beauty and makeup, but there was a school that I used to beg my parents to go to where you would learn how to put on makeup. I remember I begged them to go…. (Laughs) It was really fun; you got to put on eyeshadow and blush. (Laughs) Wow, I remember that. So lets just say I’ve been into beauty for a very long time.
If I happen to take a peek into your makeup bag, what products would I see? I am sure you have some favorites.
JW: You would definitely find a couple shades of Lucid Lipgloss. (Laughs) Some MAC powder; I don’t really use a lot of foundation, I just use powder cause I don’t really like a lot of foundation. You might find some lashes in there. I used to get my lashes from MAC. but I get a lot of my lashes now from CVS or Walgreens.
What do you feel is your best feature?
JW: Umm, I would say probably my legs. They are really nice and very long, and I used to work out on them all the time. I haven’t had time lately because of my schedule, but I would most certainly say my legs. (Laughs)
What is your signature fragrance?
JW: I love Bond Street. I know they have a bunch of different scents, but I love Bond Street #9, Astor Place. I feel like there are so many different Bond fragrances, and because they are so expensive, I feel like it’s an exclusive fragrance so you won’t have to worry about walking around and everyone smelling like you. (Laughs) I’ve been wearing these fragrances forever, but it’s certainly something that I do wear often.
What are your thoughts about cosmetic surgery? Is there anything that you would want to change or fine-tune with age?
JW: You know what, I am completely open about cosmetic surgery. I am opposed to playing with my face because I don’t know if that’s something that I could live with if something were to go wrong. (Laughs) But Botox maybe. Some years down the line if I want to change a few things, then I am open to it. Right now, I am not really big on cosmetic surgery. My mom is also not into surgeries and things like that, so it certainly has a lot to do with my upbringing.
But overall, I am open to it.If you could be the spokesmodel for any other cosmetics line besides your own. what line would it be?
JW: Something mainstream like CoverGirl. I think CoverGirl is something that a lot of women can relate to. They have so many different people and walks of life who represent the brand, like Ellen, Rihanna, and Drew Barrymore. I feel like they represent all ages, sexes and races; it’s very universal. It’s very affordable, and I just really like their message, “easy, breezy, beautiful…CoverGirl.” (Laughs)
What is your number one beauty secret?
JW: I wouldn’t say it’s a beauty secret, but for me, drinking lots of water and making sure my face is clean before I go to bed. My regimen is very easy. I clean all my makeup off my face, use a toner to keep my skin nice and firm, and then I use a moisturizer. I think Lumiere has amazing products. That’s the only line I use when it comes to skincare.
Jenn’s CherryOnTop on all things “Lucid”…
We watched you create Lucid Cosmetics from the ground up. What is different from Lucid Cosmetics versus another line?
JW: I feel like my line is different because I did everything myself. I’ve been hands on with my line, from picking the packaging to the colors. It’s all me. Nothing happened without me knowing about it. a lot of times, celebrities put their name on something and they don’t really have anything to do with it. But with my line, this is my brand, this is my product. I would rather do it myself then have someone else do it. I am very passionate about Lucid. I met a customer and she was very shocked to see me at a table at an event talking with customers about Lucid. I told her, “Yeah, I am very passionate about Lucid. This is something I believe in.” I wanted to create something that I would wear and that would be enjoyable for everyone.
What is your favorite color from your line?
JW: My favorite color is the Hills. I wear it almost everyday, It’s a girly pink; you can wear it at night or you can wear it during the day. It is something that everyone can wear.
What can we expect from Lucid? Do you have any plans to expand to a full service line, including foundations powders and other products?
JW: Yes, I definitely feel like there are so many avenues for Lucid. I just am still trying to figure out which way to take it. I definitely don’t want to stop at lipgloss, and I was very new to the cosmetic company.
Rumor has it that we can expect Lucid to be in stores soon. Any truth to that?
JW: Yes, that is what my launch party was for, but we are now in the process of putting it in stores. So you can look forward to seeing Lucid in select locations across the country.
With your divorce from Eric Williams final, and the new season Basketball Wives, what can we expect from you?
JW: Ok, first off my divorce is not final. This has been like the longest process ever. (Laughs) But I am still moving forward because we still have property and things together. And with this divorce, I am in a transitional stage right now with me moving from Miami to Jersey and continuing to be independent and working on my business and Lucid brand. This season should be interesting. (Laughs)
