“Ni**as In Paris” Video: That Sh*t Cray!

  • I am usually not a fan of concert footage music videos, but this one works because the song’s legacy is how many times it was performed in concert. When they came to Boston, they did it six times. In Los Angeles, they did it ten times. In Vancouver, to end the tour, they did it eleven times. It wouldn’t make sense for this video to be anything else.

    At first, the mirror effect feels weird. It is a video production option available to anyone with a Mac. That’s the way Kanye’s ego works though. He’ll take something available to everyone and make magic with it. The video is taken almost entirely from live footage, but the way people smoothly meld into other people – both fans and performers – is decidedly surreal. It feels like the best party ever, with beautiful people constantly becoming other beautiful people, Kanye and Jay-Z appearing and disappearing with little rhyme or reason, more than a little dose of Paris, and, for some reason, a growling tiger.
