Teen Mom 2 Finale: The Moms Come Full Circle

If any adage can be applied to the finale of Teen Mom 2, it’s that people never really change. No matter what happens in life, people are who they are. The unfortunate thing for Teen Moms Kaitlyn, Janelle, Leah and Chelsea is that they are people who make bad decisions.

For example, Kaitlyn moved out of her mother’s house, found a good boyfriend in Jordan, and got her Baby Daddy Jo to pay her child support. But, by season’s end had she cheated on Jordan with Jo because she thought she had feelings for Jo. Jordan swiftly dumped her, and by the end of the finale, Jo told her (post hook-up of course) that he wasn’t into her. Kaitlyn is back where she started.

Chelsea got a job, started paying her bills, and even took one test towards getting the GED she has been putting off since the first episode. It doesn’t sound like much, but for this girl, that’s huge. Her kryptonite is her Baby Daddy Adam, who by season’s end was coming back around. Their relationship is confusing because there isn’t a bigger douchebag on TV than this kid. He is consistently awful to her and his daughter, who he has called a “little bastard” and a “mistake,” but for some reason she LOVES him. The final shot is of her and Adam riding off on his motorcycle. Then my head exploded.

Janelle waited until the finale to make changes. She spent the majority of the season fighting with her Mom and hanging out / fighting with her boyfriend Keifer. After a judge sentenced her to probation with the stipulation that she could not smoke pot for a year, Janelle decided it was time to go to rehab. Janelle spent the finale doing yoga and talking with therapists – all the stuff she is going to be doing on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew in a few years anyway – but it took one phone call from her Mom for the old Janelle to come back. She spent the final moments of the episode happily playing with her son Jace, a rare occurrence, but a quick Google search will tell you this isn’t going to last.

The most surprising turn came from Leah, the most together Teen Mom. She is MARRIED to her Baby Daddy Corey and is living the good life in a West Virginia trailer. Their biggest problem seemed to be the health problems of one of their twins, but that seemed to be looking up. The bomb dropped last week, when Corey confronted Leah about a rumor about her cheating on him. She tearfully confessed. After fighting for the past few episodes about whether to get a new pick-up truck or a new trailer, this was the final straw. Leah and Corey spent the finale moving her out of their trailer and into divorce court.

So ends another season of Teen Mom 2. For now we say good-bye to another season of watching helplessly as young mothers make really bad life choices. But if you need a fix, fear not, Teen Mom ONE returns later this spring.
