Bad Boy Records…Then And Now…

Hip- Pop Culture Off 1

Everyone knows the name “Puff”, “P. Diddy”, and now just “Diddy”. Everyone also knows his label Bad Boy Records and the notorious artists that rose from it. But what about Bad Boy now? CherryOnTop has broken down Bad Boy’s present roster and taken a look at how it matches up to the roster of the legendary hip-hop label’s past.

Bad Boy (then)
Biggie: Lyrical genius. Award-winning (including Grammy, Billboard Music Award, Source Award).

Bad Boy (now)
French Montana: Had a hit single with “Shot Caller”. Widely acclaimed mixtape (Casino Life). Still waiting on the legacy.

Bad Boy (then)
Faith Evans: Exceptional singer. Award-winning (including Grammy, Soul Train Lady of Soul Award, MTV Music Award).

Bad Boy (now)
Cassie: Beautiful model. Not such a good voice, but a number one single with 2006′s “Me & U”.

Bad Boy (then)
G-Dep: Single “Special Delivery” from his debut solo album Child of the Ghetto peaked at #59 on Hot R&B Singles and #3 on Hot Rap Singles in 2001.

Bad Boy (now)
Red Cafe: His latest mixtape, Above the Cloudz, was released on March 17, 2011. He then released Hell’s Kitchen on January 13, 2012. His debut album, ShakeDown, is set to be released in 2012

Bad Boy (then)
112: Super group. Won Grammy for “I’ll Be Missing You”.

Bad Boy (now)
Day 26: Now with Atlantic Records; did not move with Bad Boy to Interscope Records.

Whatever your opinion on the new Bad Boy lineup, we can’t but help recognize the talent and ability of the originals. Let’s hope Diddy recognizes the same.
