Abbey Dawn Spring 2013 Collection: Pretty In Punk

  • Newly engaged punk-pop princess and fashion designer Avril Lavigne presented her Spring 2013 collection for her fashion line Abbey Dawn on Monday night at The Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan for NY Fashion Week.

Unsurprisingly, Lavigne’s music served as the show’s soundtrack. The show featured models with hair in colorful hues ranging from pink to turquoise.

The show opened with Kardashian kid-sister Kylie Jenner walking the runway in a black and white dress to Lavigne’s “Skater Boi.”

Jenner is the younger half-sister of Lavigne’s ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner, whom Lavigne dated from 2010 until early 2012.

Leather, chains, studs and skulls, and bones gave the line a rock-inspired edge, while mini skirts, tight dresses and lots of pink and red made it still girly, sexy and fun. Lavigne has said in the past that the collection represents clothing that she would want to wear on stage.

The Abbey Dawn line, which was named for the singer’s childhood nickname, was launched a few years earlier as a “junior lifestyle brand” sold exclusively at Kohl’s. Since then, it it has developed and expanded and has become a higher-end brand.
