Lil Wayne called up Power 106 in Los Angeles and spoke on his recent hospitalization for seizures to TMZ reporting that he was on his deathbed. During the interview, the 30-year-old hip-hop star revealed he suffers from epilepsy. He said, “I’m an epileptic. I’m prone to seizures.” He also denied being mad at TMZ for reporting he was near death, saying, “That’s what they do. I can’t be upset at that.”
Lil Wayne is resting at his mother’s house after reportedly having 2 seizures last week. The Young Money CEO first experienced seizure-like symptoms on Thursday, forcing his private jet to make an emergency landing in Texas. After being treated at a Texas hospital and released, Wayne attempted another flight, but that too had to make an emergency landing, this time in Louisiana, when the hip-hop star reportedly suffered another seizure. According to TMZ, Wayne’s doctors have advised him not to fly, so the “How to Love” rapper is remaining in Louisiana where he’s recuperating at his mother’s house.
Despite numerous reports to the contrary, reps for Wayne insist he didn’t have a seizure. Reportedly, Wayne’s team told MTV that reports about Wayne’s health have been blown out of proportion, saying the multi-platinum recording artist didn’t have any seizures, and instead suffered a severe migraine and dehydration. Whatever the case, we wish Wayne a speedy recovery.
As we previously reported, Rick Ross suffered two seizures while on the road in mid-October. Last night, the hip-hop star appeared on BET’s 106 & Park (his first television appearance since the health scare) to address the incident and acknowledge the support he’s received in the days since (he also discusses recording with Jay-Z).
In the wake of his recent health scare, Rick Ross is slowing down a bit and canceling his concert on Friday at Georgia State University. In a statement to Atlanta’s WSB-TV, the university’s concerts director, George F. Baker III, said:
“We are disappointed he had to cancel, but completely understand that Rick Ross needs to take care of his himself at this time. We hope he is better soon.”
According to Crunktastical.net, students will be given a refund for the price of the concert tickets since it will take GSU 12 weeks to locate an act that can perform in Rick’s place. We hope this means Rick is taking the precautions needed to improve his health.
Rick Ross’ two seizures aboard two different airplanes last week prompted his good friend, DJ Khaled, to offer the ‘Teflon Don’ transportation back to Atlanta on his tricked out tour bus. According to TMZ:
“Ross — who was hospitalized in Alabama Friday — was picked up by his friend DJ Khaled … who transported him to Memphis in his luxury tour bus for the opening of a chicken wing joint last night.
Sources close to Ross tell us … Khaled has offered to take Ross back to Atlanta in the bus, so he won’t have to risk another in-flight emergency.
We’re told the journey home is scheduled to begin at some point today.”
No word yet on what could have brought on Rick’s seizures, but we hope he slows down and puts more time into taking care of himself to avoid a recurrence.
Basketball Wives star Royce Reed had a bit of a health scare over the weekend when she suffered a seizure while playing in a charity softball game on Saturday in Wilmington, Delaware. According to TMZ:
“According to our sources, Reed pulled a hamstring muscle at one point and when she went to go sit down…she passed out.
When she came to, our sources say Reed said she had no idea she suffered a seizure and told people it was the first time she had such an experience. Paramedics were called, but Reed said she was feeling fine and did not need to be transported to a hospital.”
While Royce decided against a precautionary visit to the hospital, the former Orlando Magic dancer reportedly felt fine by the end of the weekend and plans to see a doctor upon her return to Florida. We here at CherryOnTop hope her doctor visit goes well and that it’s nothing serious.
